Location of Massive July 18, 2007 Steam Pipe Explosion in NYC (photo

NOTE: THIS IS THE LOCATION OF TODAY"S MASSIVE STEAM PIPE EXPLOSION IN NEW YORK CITY. NOTICE THE ACTIVE STEAM VENT. IT HAS BEEN VENTING MORE REGULARLY THAN OLD FAITHFUL, FOR WELL MORE THAN A YEAR. WAS THERE SOMETHING GOING ON THAT CON ED KNEW ABOUT AND DIDN'T TELL US? COULD THIS EXPLOSION HAVE BEEN PREVENTED? WHY WAS THIS PIPE VENTING SO MUCH STEAM FOR SO LONG? SHOULD THAT HAVE BEEN A WARNING?

The location of this photo (and today's explosion) is 41st Street & Lexington Ave. in Manhattan. For those not familiar with this area, the Chrysler Building is one block north from here. Grand Central Terminal is one block North and less than one block West from here.

This photo was taken on December 23, 2006.
